Organized Konfusion – Organized Konfusion (1991)

Organized Konfusion is an alternative Hip Hop duo from New York. Starting their careers as “Simply II Positive MCs, they were convinced by Russell Simmons from Def Jam that the name was whack and changed it to “Organized Konfusion”. They released their self-titled album in 1991 – a debut with great use of samples and an overall very positive vibe to it. Recommended greatly, one of the most underappreciated Hip Hop records of the 90’s.

Brand Nubian – One for all (1990)

Brand Nubian - One For All

Brand Nubians debut album is a very funky one. The MC’s Grand Puba & Sadat X have a great flow and a very characteristic voice. They outshine the other rapper Lord Jamar but that doesn’t make the album any worse. It’s very consistent – however every track is unique. A few ones stand out like “Slow down” or “Dedication”. If you like early 90’s Hip Hop you can’t go wrong with this record.

Digable Planets – Reachin’ (1993)

Digable Planets - Reachin

Digable Planets’ debut album Reachin’ is a very relaxing joint. Funk and jazz samples are heavily being used and the mellow voices of Butterfly, Doodlebug & Ladybug are just the perfect addition. Today this album is regarded as a classic. Maybe the only downside is that they aren’t great rappers but it really doesn’t matter here.
